Zia Agents: Your Digital Workforce for Business Efficiency
Grade: A — Score: 85/100
Zia Agents leverage Zoho-hosted large language models (LLMs) that are specifically tailored for business applications, ensuring high performance while adhering to Zoho's stringent privacy and security standards.
With Zia Agents, businesses can automate workflows by deploying over 100 pre-built agents or creating custom agents using the low-code Agent Studio, allowing for quick adaptation to specific industry needs and use cases.
While Zia Agents significantly enhance productivity and efficiency, organizations must consider potential risks such as reliance on AI for critical tasks and the need for ongoing monitoring to ensure optimal performance.
Platform and BYOK: $0 Zoho platform fee; model-provider charges apply
Zoho-hosted Standard: $0 up to 30M tokens/month; then $1 USD per 1M tokens
Zoho-hosted Pro: $0 up to 20M tokens/month; then $3 USD per 1M tokens
External Models via ZKS: Current model-vendor token rates with no Zoho markup

Zia is Zoho's broader AI brand, while Zia Agents is the dedicated platform for building and deploying agents with models, knowledge, API tools, guardrails, triggers, and deployment channels. A normal workflow follows predefined rules, while a Zia Agent can reason over a request, retrieve business context, choose configured tools, and take actions within the permissions you grant it. Zoho also lets triggers start deployed agents automatically when supported business events occur.
Yes. Zia Agents currently supports BYOK for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, and Cohere, and BYOK requests do not consume Zia Agents AI Credits because the model provider bills you directly. Availability is data-center dependent: OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and Cohere are broadly available across the listed non-China data centers, while DeepSeek BYOK is currently listed for the China data center.
Yes. Zia Agents supports custom tools defined with OpenAPI 3.0 YAML, so an agent can call external REST APIs when the required action is not available as a prebuilt system tool. This is separate from event publishers: current publishers are focused on native Zoho services, while Zoho says custom third-party signals and broader Zoho Flow publisher support are still coming.
Yes. After an agent is deployed, triggers can start it automatically when a configured publisher reports an event such as a new lead, updated deal, raised invoice, or closed ticket. You can filter which events qualify and choose which fields are passed to the agent, which helps reduce token use and prevents unnecessary data from entering the prompt. Current native publishers cover a growing list of Zoho services rather than arbitrary third-party event sources.
A Zia Agent deployed as a Digital Employee operates as its own user inside a supported Zoho product, with an identity and the role and permissions selected during deployment. Zoho is rolling Digital Employee deployment out in phases, so it is not available for every Zoho service or account yet. Connection-based deployment remains the standard fallback when the Digital Employee option is unavailable.
Yes. Zia Agents can ground responses in PDFs, text files, markdown documents, Zoho WorkDrive files, Zoho Learn content, and crawled website pages before the model generates an answer. Desktop PDF uploads are currently limited to files under 500 KB, while web scraping supports up to 1,000 pages and a maximum crawl depth of 25. WorkDrive, Zoho Learn, and website sources can also be configured with synchronization intervals.
Yes, but the administration model has limits. Zia Agents currently has four predefined platform roles, Super Admin, Admin, Collaborator, and Viewer, and Zoho says those roles are not customizable; for example, Collaborators can build and test agents but cannot deploy them. Individual agents also use scoped service connections, tool permissions, built-in Fairness and Bias and Toxicity guardrails, and custom do and don't rules.
Yes. Deployed agents can be connected to ChatKit, Zoho Cliq, WhatsApp, or called programmatically through the OAuth 2.0 Agent API. WhatsApp requires a WhatsApp Business account and a Meta Business authorization flow, while the Agent API exposes the endpoint, authentication method, request format, and OAuth scope for custom applications or automated workflows.
Zia Agents' specific Terms say Customer Content is processed by Zoho or applicable third-party AI providers solely to build, configure, and operate the agents, and Zoho says it does not claim ownership of your Customer Content, agents, or generated outputs. However, Zoho's general Privacy Policy separately permits limited use of anonymized service data to improve algorithm accuracy and organization data to develop organization-specific models. Because those documents do not establish one blanket no-training rule for every model path, our audit keeps the broader training opt-out status unclear.
Zia Agents charges no platform fee for the builder, deployment infrastructure, or BYOK, and its Zoho-hosted Standard models include 30 million free tokens per month before a $1 USD per 1 million token overage rate. Salesforce Agentforce uses Salesforce-native Flow, Apex, and Data Cloud workflows and currently prices Flex Credits at $500 USD per 100,000 credits, with a standard action consuming 20 credits or $0.10, while customer-facing conversations can be priced at $2 each. Zia Agents is more attractive for Zoho-centric teams and BYOK economics, while Agentforce is the more natural fit when the organization already depends on Salesforce data and automation.
