As listed in July 2026, WellSaid Starter costs $19 per month or $10 per month when billed annually, while ElevenLabs Starter costs $6 per month with 30,000 credits. WellSaid focuses on professionally licensed actor voices, collaborative production, pronunciation control, enterprise governance, and allowances based on downloaded finished audio. ElevenLabs offers a broader creator and developer suite with self-service voice cloning, dubbing, sound effects, music, agents, and credit-based usage, so it is the stronger fit when breadth and a lower entry price matter more than WellSaid's controlled production model.
WellSaid permits commercial use of audio generated under a paid Studio subscription, and the finalized features record assigns generated-output ownership to the customer. The free Trial does not include commercial usage rights, and customers cannot claim ownership of the underlying WellSaid voices themselves.
WellSaid provides Oxford pronunciation suggestions, custom phonetic respellings, text replacements, and reusable pronunciation libraries for names, acronyms, brands, numbers, and technical vocabulary. Business and Enterprise users can also generate Smart Suggestions when a dictionary option is unavailable. These controls improve consistency, but users may still need to preview and manually refine difficult terms.
WellSaid documents Arabic, Cantonese, Mandarin, Czech, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish in addition to its English voices and accents. The finalized features record places global languages and built-in translation on the custom-priced Enterprise plan, while the self-service paid plans focus on English voices. Buyers needing another language or a custom multilingual voice must contact WellSaid.
WellSaid can create a custom voice model from authorized recordings, but it does not provide unrestricted self-service cloning of any uploaded person. The customer must have express written consent from the speaker, and the custom model is not shared with other WellSaid customers. Custom voices are handled through WellSaid's voice specialists and commercial agreement rather than the ordinary Starter or Pro workflow.
WellSaid provides a Voiceover extension that lets Business and Enterprise customers generate and move Studio audio directly into Adobe Premiere Pro. The finalized features record also lists Adobe Express on Pro and higher plans, but Premiere Pro access begins with Business.
Paid Studio plans allow unlimited generation and retakes, while the plan allowance is consumed by finished audio that is downloaded. Downloading a clip or combining clips into a finished file counts toward the allowance, so teams can preview and regenerate takes before choosing the final output. API usage is measured separately through monthly character quotas and overages.
The finalized plan matrix lists MP3 output at 24 kHz on Starter, up to 48 kHz on Pro, WAV and OGG added on Business, and audio up to 96 kHz on Enterprise. TXT exports are available from Pro, while SRT and VTT caption files are documented in the current pricing matrix for paid plans. Format and sample-rate availability therefore depend on both the subscription and the selected voice model.
The WellSaid API supports streaming, asynchronous and batch text-to-speech, word-level timing, subtitles, pronunciation rules, and direction controls for pitch, tempo, loudness, and pauses. A default API key is limited to three requests per second and 1,000 characters per request, with higher concurrency available by agreement. WellSaid offers a seven-day API trial, while ongoing character quotas and pricing are arranged with the vendor.
WellSaid states that customer inputs and generated outputs are not used to train its text-to-speech models or third-party AI models. Its Smart Suggestions feature uses a large language model hosted on Google Cloud Platform, but WellSaid says enabling that feature does not expose customer content for model training.
