Gmail CRM for High-Performing Teams
Grade: C — Score: 50/100
Streak leverages the power of Gmail to provide a seamless CRM experience, allowing users to manage their customer relationships directly from their inbox. This integration minimizes the friction often associated with traditional CRMs, which can disrupt workflow and lead to underutilization.
By embedding CRM functionalities within Gmail, Streak enhances productivity and ensures that teams can easily log emails, track deals, and manage contacts without switching between multiple applications. The platform's AI capabilities further streamline data entry and provide actionable insights, making it easier for teams to stay organized and focused.
However, organizations must consider the risks of relying solely on a Gmail-integrated CRM, such as potential data privacy concerns and the limitations of using a single platform for all customer relationship management needs. It's essential to evaluate whether Streak aligns with broader business objectives and compliance requirements.

Consider switching to HubSpot CRM: HubSpot offers a more comprehensive suite of marketing tools and integrations for larger teams.
Streak is built for Gmail and does not offer an Outlook version. Its current support page identifies Chrome and Safari as the supported desktop browsers and does not offer a Firefox extension.
Streak assigns permissions per pipeline, with six built-in roles on Pro and Pro+ and custom roles on Enterprise. Pipelines are shared with the whole team by default, but Team Access can be set to No Access for new members and access can then be granted individually. Email threads can be linked one at a time or shared automatically for a contact or pipeline, while side conversations and other unshared emails remain private until their owner shares them.
Google's consent screen uses broad scopes because Streak reads, sends, and tracks mail, links Drive files, syncs contacts, and creates Calendar items for Streak tasks. Streak says it does not delete Gmail messages, Drive files, contacts, calendars, or events, and its security page says it does not store email bodies. Email bodies are fetched through the Gmail API when requested, while email metadata may be stored temporarily for indexing and sorting.
Streak tracks message views and link clicks, but its documentation says privacy settings, VPNs, corporate security tools, blocked redirects, forwarding, and copied tracking pixels can distort or omit events. Location data can reflect an intermediary server and is intended as a rough timezone clue rather than precise location evidence. Treat opens and clicks as directional signals rather than proof that a specific recipient read the message.
Not through the regular pipeline export. Streak exports to Google Sheets and can include boxes, contacts, organizations, tasks, newsfeed activity, call logs, and meeting notes, but it omits email threads, files, and comments. Comments, thread keys, and file keys can be accessed through the API, while emails remain in Gmail; Streak recommends contacting support when moving pipelines between email accounts.
Yes, but the plan scope differs. Mail Merge is available on all plans with automatic follow-ups; the free tool allows 50 sends per day, paid plans list 1,500 per day for Google Workspace accounts, and personal Gmail accounts are limited to 400 per day. Workflow automations such as stage-triggered tasks, field updates, Slack messages, webhooks, and adding contacts to mail merges require Pro+ or Enterprise.
Streak's paid plans support unlimited pipelines and saved views, but separate pipelines cannot be recombined into one view. The vendor recommends using saved views within a single pipeline when records share the same columns and workflow structure. Pro includes standard reports, while Pro+ and Enterprise include advanced reports.
Streak supports ChatGPT and Claude through its MCP server for paid Streak accounts, with no additional Streak charge, although the connected assistant must support the integration. The assistant uses OAuth and existing Streak permissions to work with CRM records, while Streak says its MCP server does not provide access to email content. Separately, the privacy policy says Google Workspace API data is not used to train generalized AI or ML models, but it does not publish a whole-product training opt-out covering every CRM data type.
Both products target Google Workspace teams, but Streak places its pipelines inside Gmail while Copper provides a Gmail extension and a broader CRM workspace. Streak Pro costs $49 per user per month billed annually or $59 monthly with unlimited records; Copper Basic costs $23 per seat per month billed annually or $29 monthly with a 2,500-contact limit. Copper Professional adds workflow automation, reporting, and integrations at $59 annually or $69 monthly, while Streak requires Pro+ at $69 annually or $89 monthly for automations, direct integrations, and advanced reports.
Streak is a narrower CRM that operates directly inside Gmail, while HubSpot Sales Hub is part of a broader customer platform and its free CRM supports up to two users. Streak's $0 offer covers email power tools rather than an editable CRM; Streak Pro starts at $49 per user per month billed annually or $59 monthly. HubSpot is the more natural fit when marketing, service, content, and data-management tools must sit alongside sales, while Streak fits teams prioritizing an email-centric Gmail workflow.
