Consider switching to Replika: Replika offers a more personalized AI interaction experience, which may appeal to users seeking companionship rather than brand engagement.
Kuki is a shared public persona built primarily with AIML, supervised responses, statistical models, and selected machine-learning components, while Replika creates a private companion that personalizes itself around one user. Replika documents free text chat plus paid relationship settings, voice calls, roleplay, image features, and deeper memory options. Kuki is better suited to structured social conversation and authorized virtual-influencer campaigns, while Replika is designed more explicitly for personal companionship and emotional continuity.
Kuki is not primarily a large language model chatbot. ICONIQ says it is implemented mainly with Artificial Intelligence Markup Language, combined with statistical models, machine learning, manual review, and human-supervised updates. Generative replies based on deep-learning models are described as tightly controlled private research rather than the basis of the public product.
Kuki can retain voluntarily supplied details in short-term conversation state and longer-term account memory to personalize later exchanges. ICONIQ says Kuki can learn locally during a conversation but does not change its global behavior without approval from a human supervisor. The vendor also documents the ability to purge stored details for compliance purposes.
Kuki's privacy policy says messages are collected to improve its responses and the quality of the chat experience. ICONIQ's ethics documentation says Incognito mode lets users opt out of the use and storage of chat data entirely, and account controls allow users to view or delete stored data. Those policy pages are older, so the availability of Incognito mode should be confirmed in the current interface.
Kuki cannot be white-labeled under ICONIQ's current partnership rules. Its embodied appearance may be adapted to suit a partner platform, but Kuki must continue to appear as herself and any platform use requires authorization. Businesses that need to own and control a separate chatbot persona should use a chatbot-building platform instead.
Brands can request a partnership or distribution agreement that uses Kuki as an authorized virtual ambassador. ICONIQ says Kuki can be trained to discuss or display companies and products that align with her stated ethos, but commercial use requires approval and Kuki cannot be presented as a white-label character. Partnership pricing and standard contract terms are not publicly documented.
Kuki's API remains a limited beta rather than an open self-service developer product. Researchers may use public Kuki interfaces when their methods comply with the policies, but automated, high-volume, or multi-user testing requires a research request. ICONIQ says applicants should assume access was not granted when no response arrives within five business days.
Kuki is not a healthcare service, mental-health service, medical device, or emergency resource. ICONIQ also states that Kuki does not provide medical, financial, religious, or political advice and directs sensitive situations toward human resources. Users facing an emergency should contact local emergency services or an appropriate qualified professional rather than relying on Kuki.
ICONIQ says Kuki rebuffs romantic advances and is not promoted as a replacement romantic partner. This differs from Replika, which documents optional romantic-partner relationship settings and roleplay in its paid experience. Kuki is positioned around social conversation, entertainment, education, and public virtual-influencer use rather than a private simulated relationship.
Kuki's terms prohibit use by anyone under 13. Users under 18 may use Kuki only with approval from a parent or guardian. The terms also prohibit users from soliciting personal information from anyone under 18.
